Sinai Lutheran Church     ●    950 E. 8th St.   Fremont, NE   68025

Last year’s Making Friends stewardship campaign was a resounding success, both in terms of the stronger financial giving that resulted this year, but even more so because of the way our congregation was reenergized by our small group meetings.

The Stewardship Committee heard again and again from members how they really enjoyed gathering in people’s homes and other intimate settings to talk about faith, discipleship and the ministry priorities of our church.

We plan to build upon last year’s success by hosting another round of small group meetings.  This year we will do some dreaming about what shape Sinai’s ministry should take in the next decade.  Our aim is to empower the Future Planning Team (formerly known as the Strategic Planning Team) to set new goals and objectives to increase the impact of our ministry over the next 3-5 years.

The theme for this year’s stewardship gatherings is

Sinai’s Stewardship:  The Next Step

Banking on God’s Future.  We will explore the “Parable of the Three Servants” and discuss what it will take for us to be counted as “good and trustworthy slaves” as we invest our “talents” in God’s future.  We will also take time to celebrate this year’s investments and examine our immediate investment needs for the coming year.

Keep alert to upcoming information about this stewardship program.  In the next few weeks, small group sign-up sheets will be posted in the narthex, and the many volunteers needed to pull this program off will be recruited.  I ask you to be ready to pitch in if you are called upon.  We need all hands on deck for this one.

Let’s make this year’s campaign another success.  Let’s dream together about what we can become as God’s people in mission here at Sinai.

Dreaming about the future with you,

2007 Confirmation Class

On Sunday, October 28, 10:30 a.m., four Sinai young people will be affirming their baptismal faith in the Rite of Confirmation as they vow to live in the covenant of Christian faith that has been nurtured within them by their parents, baptismal sponsors and the Sinai community.

Please keep the following youth in your thoughts and prayers during this important time:  Blake Kavan, Holden Ray, Colton Schneekloth, Erina Winterfeld.

Photos will be taken in the sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. and a reception will be held in their honor in the Fellowship Hall following the worship service.  These students will have a Confirmation Retreat with Pastor Ostrom on Sunday, October 21, 5-8:00 p.m. at the church.

“Trick or Trunk”

Wednesday, October 31,

The Evangelism committee is again asking members to help out to make this a fun, safe event for our neighborhood children.  We need you and your car trunks, decorated and costumed, ready to hand out the “goodies”!  We will also be collecting candy at the church, the whole month of October and we’ll see that it gets to a car trunk.

If you plan to participate, come to the parking lot by 5:30 so that you will be set up and ready to go by 6:00 p.m.  All Sinai members are invited to come out for this fun event!  Please sign up NOW so we have some idea on how many trunks and candy we will have for the evening!
